Job Summary/Company:

Sparks Group in collaboration with a premier academic institution is searching for a driven Sr. Grants Accountant to join their team. The Accountant will be responsible for preparing financial projections and contributing to budgets, expense tracking and monitoring of individual grants. They will be responsible for ensuring compliance with grant funds requirements. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive accounting and grant reporting experience. Responsibilities:

  • Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
  • Collaborate with the management stakeholders to develop initiatives and plans for the organization
  • Account analysis and reconciliation of grant operations and program projects
  • Follow up with sponsor agencies to facilitate compensation for services provided; track aging, analyzing reimbursement trends
  • Furnish documentation and related information necessary to provide to agencies; maintaining the database relating to sponsored research awards and activities
  • Monitor expenses to determine costs allowable under federal and private agency regulations
  • Assist management with all financial activities involving grants, provide support for funding allocations
  • Advise department administrators with monitoring post award transactions and properly using Budget Tracking System
  • Qualifications/Background Profile:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
  • 4+ years of comprehensive accounting and grant reporting experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S GAAP
  • Experience with grant accounting processes and or accounting in a higher-education institution
  • PeopleSoft experience required
  • Knowledge of principles, practices and methodologies of accounting including grant administration and reporting, budget policies and procedures
  • Understanding of federal compliance regulations and requirements
  • Advanced technical skills using Microsoft Office Tools, importantly MS Excel; PeopleSoft experience strongly preferred
